Contact lenses in Central India since 1969
Our first clinic, Saoji Contact Lens Clinic, introduced contact lenses to Central India in 1969. Back then people chose either lenses or glasses. Today most people use both: some days you want clear sight without glasses, other days you want to wear your favourite frames.
RGP lenses are among the best lenses available, but they are used less now because excellent soft lenses exist and few eye-care professionals are trained to fit them. We have taken RGP fitting further with corneal topography: we map more than one lakh points on your cornea, fit the lens virtually first, then confirm the fit with an actual trial lens.
Soft lenses are fitted routinely: spherical, toric (cylindrical) lenses of any power, multifocal lenses for distance and near, and lenses for dry eyes. We do a proper trial wherever it is needed, so the fit is comfortable and your vision is clear.

Who should have it?
There are moments when you want to see clearly without glasses: a date, an important meeting, a game of cricket, Diwali, a wedding, or simply wearing your favourite sunglasses.
For occasions like these, daily disposable lenses are ideal. They come sealed in individual packs, so there is no cleaning, soaking or upkeep. You wear them once and throw them away, and they cost less than most people expect.
How we are different
We work with every type of contact lens. We don't simply sell lenses; we dispense them professionally after a thorough eye evaluation, choosing the right material and design for your eyes.
The fit is checked under a slit-lamp microscope, and you are fully trained in how to wear, clean and care for your lenses.
Speciality lenses
Ortho-K lenses are worn while you sleep. They gently reshape the cornea so you can see clearly through the day without glasses or lenses, and they are very effective at slowing myopia in children. Modern materials make them very safe to wear.
Scleral lenses are larger lenses for eyes where the cornea has become irregular, as in keratoconus, after injuries or after chemical burns. They are very comfortable and restore excellent vision, and are available in cylindrical and multifocal powers.

Questions about Contact Lens Clinic
Can't find your answer? Message us and an optometrist will reply.
How long can you wear daily disposable contact lenses?
Daily disposable contact lenses are designed for single use only. They should be worn once and discarded at the end of the day — never reused, cleaned, or stored for a second wear, even if they still feel comfortable.
Is it safe to sleep in contact lenses?
Unless a specific lens has been prescribed by your optometrist for extended or overnight wear, you should never sleep in contact lenses. Sleeping in lenses significantly raises the risk of corneal infection, including serious conditions like microbial keratitis.
Can I clean contact lenses with tap water?
No. Tap water, bottled water, and saliva all carry microorganisms — including Acanthamoeba — that can cause severe eye infections. Reusable contact lenses should only be cleaned with fresh multipurpose solution recommended by your optometrist.
How often should I replace my contact lens case?
Contact lens cases should be replaced every 1 to 3 months, even if they look clean. Cases can harbor bacterial biofilm that isn't visible to the eye, which is a common source of lens-related eye infections.
What should I do if my eye becomes red or painful while wearing contact lenses?
Remove your contact lenses immediately and contact your optometrist. Redness, pain, blurred vision, or excessive tearing while wearing lenses can be early signs of infection or corneal damage and should never be ignored or pushed through.
What are contact lenses and how do they correct vision?
Contact lenses are thin, curved lenses placed directly on the tear film covering the cornea. They correct refractive errors — myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia — by bending light so it focuses precisely on the retina, the same way glasses do, but from directly on the eye's surface. Because they move with the eye, contact lenses provide a wider, more natural field of view than glasses, without frames obstructing peripheral vision or fogging up in humidity or temperature changes. Modern lenses are made from soft hydrogel or silicone hydrogel materials, or firmer rigid gas permeable materials, depending on the correction needed and the wearer's corneal shape.", "url": "https://www.saojivisioncare.com/contact-lenses-nagpur#what-are-contact-lenses
